Did you know that since 2001, the Brisbane Advertising Association has donated almost $400,000 to charities and members in need?

Being involved in the BAA is not only about the fabulous lunches and great networking opportunities, but proudly supporting various charities in Queensland.

Funds are raised through Membership fees, tickets sales to our events and Raffles on the day of our lunches.

DEAF SERVICES QUEENSLAND - Charity Recipient Mar 2012

Deaf Services Queensland is a not-for-profit organisation providing support services to thousands of Deaf and hard of hearing Queenslanders.
 
Deaf Services Queensland has been providing information, referral, advocacy, aged care, independent living skills support, community education and employment services to the deaf community in Queensland for over 106 years. Some of the key services and programs Deaf Services Queensland provide are:

  • Auslan (Australian Sign Language) Interpreting
  • Sign On Employment
  • Australian Sign Language (Auslan) Classes
  • Information and Referral Services to the community
  • Independent Living Support to people who Deaf and live with other disabilities
  • Deafness Awareness Training to the corporate community
  • Children and Families Support
  • National Relay Service Outreach – Education and support so that the Deaf community are able to converse via the internet or phone with the general community.

All of these services sit at the core of Deaf Services Queensland and aim to assist the Deaf community and provide a connection between the Deaf and hearing communities.
 

THE STARLIGHT CHILDREN'S FOUNDATION - Charity Recipient Dec 2011

The BAA have supported the Starlight Children's foundation for over eight years.

The Starlight Children's foundation exists to brighten the lives of seriously ill and hospitalised children and teens. Since 1988 Starlight has delivered innovative "Distinctive Therapy Programs" within hospital environments, with the endorsement and support of the healthcare profession. Programs are designed to be an integral part of the total health care of children.

Starlight's hospital programs include Starlight Express Rooms, Starlight Fun Centres and Starlight Express Vans. All of which aim to bring smiles to the faces of hospitalised children, using fun and entertainment as a positive distraction to pain and boredom. Out of hospital, Starlight kids and their families can relax and enjoy family outings provided by Starlight Escapes or share a once-in-a-lifetime experience through the Starlight Wishgranting program.

GUIDE DOGS QUEENSLAND - Charity Recipient Dec 2011

Established in 1960, Guide Dogs Queensland has been helping to “equip, empower and educate” blind and vision impaired Queenslanders, of all ages, with a wide range of top-quality orientation and mobility services.  With less than seven per cent government funding for some specific rehabilitation services, and none for Guide Dogs, they rely on the generosity of individuals, corporate sponsors and people who leave a bequest in their Will so that they can continue to fund vital work.

Services include:

  • Guide Dog training and placement;
  • White Cane training;
  • Electronic Travel Aids training;
  • Community and professional education workshops;
  • Mobility programs for vision impaired and blind children; and
  • Counselling by our on staff psychologist.

Services are delivered both in the community and through residential programs during which clients learn new skills and live on site in our Client Residence.

GDQ is the only service provider in Queensland that offers this complete range of rehabilitation services, and we have seven regional offices at Cairns, Townsville, Rockhampton, Bundaberg, Toowoomba and on the Gold and Sunshine coasts. 

DANIEL MORCOMBE FOUNDATION - Charity Recipient Dec 2011

The Daniel Morcombe Foundation is very active in implementing “Harm Prevention” initiatives.  this area of work has increased to form a major proportion of our time, energies and available funding.
They are committed to teaching Personal Safety to the young and vulnerable in our community by providing these important skills, free of charge and easily accessible for everyone in Australia. The events surrounding Daniel Morcombe's disappearance have strengthened a community in their resolve to ensure that this type of tragedy never occurs again.

But the Daniel Morcombe Foundation’s belief and vision is one that also incorporates a future where all children area provided with protection, education and support in their lives.

The objectives of the foundation are simple and wide reaching across many facets of our community.

  1. To educate children regarding their personal safety (including abduction);
  2. To assist victims of crime, particularly where crime involves children;
  3. To raise funds from public and Government entities to support the above objectives;
  4. To provide a vehicle to attract funding from State and Federal bodies and to establish and maintain a public fund to attract public donations and bequests.

The aim of the 4KQ Variety Special Children's Christmas Party is to provide in excess of 3,000 children with a day they will never forget.
The children come from four major groups: The terminally ill, the intellectually impaired, physically impaired and also the underprivileged who may be suffering from domestic violence or physical abuse. Children arrive from all over South East Queensland, from as far north as Bundaberg, west to Roma and south to Tweed Heads.

The Alzheimer's Association of Queensland (AAQ) is Queensland's leading not-for-profit community organization whose primary aim is to help maintain the quality of life of people diagnosed with dementia and their caregivers.

Founded in 1983 by a small group of carers, AAQ is now the largest provider of dementia-specific care, education, information and support services in Australia.

Whether you are a person diagnosed with dementia, a family member of a person with dementia, or a health care professional, AAQ is your source of information, support and assistance on issues related to Alzheimer's disease and other forms of dementia.

The Cerebral Palsy League (CPL) is a non-profit organisation that provides vital support and services to over 5,000 children and adults with cerebral palsy and related physical disabilities because we believe everybody has the same right to a fulfilling life.

We provide services every day, at every stage of our clients' lives and have been doing so for over 60 years in thousands of homes, schools, communities and workplaces across Queensland.

We work alongside our clients to achieve important life milestones like walking, talking, learning, working and living independently through a broad range of services spanning direct personal care, therapies, technologies, equipment and employment. The individualised programs we provide equip our clients to fulfil their passions, participate in their communities, and express their creativity.

Our vision is an inclusive world for all people.
